One of the most popular video games ever jumps off the screen and into toy form. In this Out of the Box video, Turco unboxes the World of Nintendo Super Mario Acorn Plains and Underground playsets from Jakks Pacific, officially licensed sets that let you recreate classic Mario levels.

What's in the video

Super Mario Bros. was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System on October 18, 1985, and quickly took the gaming world by storm. Mario has had a game on every Nintendo console since. The games star Mario the plumber, his brother Luigi and the rest of the cast in the Mushroom Kingdom, usually trying to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser. The series is part of the larger Mario franchise, which includes films, TV, print and merchandise. Some 35 years after the original game, multi-brand toy company Jakks Pacific released these playsets of everyone's favorite plumber.

Acorn Plains playset

Straight from the first world of New Super Mario Bros. U, Acorn Plains has acorn trees, teal hills, shrubs and jagged mountains. Replay the level with the Mario figure and two environment pieces with feature mechanisms, and switch up the scene with the interchangeable warp pipe and color block platform.

• 1 Mario figure
• 3 2D backdrops
• 1 brick block with a hidden coin and 1 plain brick block
• 1 warp pipe and 1 color block platform
• 2 bases

Underground playset

The underground has appeared in almost every Mario game since the beginning. This set recreates the classic level with its dark bluish backdrop and sparkling blue rocks, plus two environment pieces with feature mechanisms and interchangeable shifting and stone platforms.

• 1 Ice Mario figure
• 1 backdrop
• 1 floating platform, 1 shifting platform and 1 stone platform
• 1 brick block and 1 brick block with a hidden mushroom
• 2 bases

The video also shows more ways to build out your Mario world: the Cloud playset with a rotating cloud and expanding, interchangeable platforms; the Dungeon diorama set with three figures and spinning fireballs; and a big lineup of 2½-inch mini figures.
