Funko Vinyl Soda | Heat Miser - Sulley - Stay Puft
Pop or soda? Depending on where you live, you call it one or the other, but either way there's no liquid in these cans. In this Out of the Box video, Turco pops the tops on three Funko Vinyl SODA figures: Heat Miser, Sulley and Stay Puft, along with their chase variants.
What's in the video
Funko Pop! figures have been all the rage, but in January 2020 Funko announced a new vinyl line called SODA, focused on pop culture favorites from TV, movies, comics and even advertising icons. Fans got their first look at the 2020 New York Toy Fair, where Funko showed cans of SODA in a big cooler alongside a giant life-size Skeletor model of what was inside.
How Funko SODA works
- Each can holds a 4¼-inch vinyl figure and a collectible disc, which looks a lot like a '90s POG.
- Every character comes in two versions, a common and a chase, with a 1-in-6 chance of getting the chase.
- The disc tells you which one you got. A chase disc literally says "You found the chase."
- Every Funko SODA is a limited edition, with only a small number of each made.
- There are more than 600 different SODA figures to collect, with more added all the time.
The cans opened in the video
- Heat Miser: one of the Miser brothers from the holiday special The Year Without a Santa Claus, with the power of pyrokinesis (starting and controlling fire with his mind). The chase is a diamond glitter Heat Miser with a glitter bottom.
- Sulley: James P. Sullivan, the renowned scarer from Disney·Pixar's Monsters, Inc. (2001). The chase is a flocked Sulley with fur.
- Stay Puft: Mr. Stay Puft from Ghostbusters. The chase is a red Stay Puft that glows in the dark.
You can't drink them, but Funko SODA figures are a refreshing way to show off your favorite pop culture characters. So, is it soda or pop?
